Published on March 6, 2013 in Baseball, Featured, Life, Love

The clear blue sky made me believe it could be Opening Day. But the chill in the air reminded me that Old Man Winter hadn’t given way to the Boys of Summer. Hadley bounded from the car, slapping his mitt and raring to go. He

Staying the course

The crowds on the running trails across Shreveport were a bit sparse this morning. Several local runners are in New Orleans, gearing up for tomorrow’s Rock and Roll Mardi Gras marathon and half-marathon. Several others traveled over to the Lone Star State for the Cowtown

The sweet taste of victory

I walked out of the hotel into the early morning darkness and was immediately assaulted by an arctic blast of air. It was a painful reminder that it was, after all, still February, even if this was Dallas. But it also was a pleasant reminder

I have never been what you would call a shoe fan. That is, until this past weekend. I didn’t even think I was in the market for a new pair of shoes. But we were hanging out in Dallas after the Hot Chocolate run. We

Tomorrow’s a big, big day

Published on January 22, 2013 in Life, Love, Running

It’s pretty amazing how time really does fly when you are having fun. Tomorrow is the eighth anniversary of the day Melissa and I got married. I remember the day like it was yesterday. It was a beautiful service. I remembered all my lines and

Running buddies

I sure have been missing my running buddies. I didn’t realize how much until I went and ran with a few of them yesterday. I have two groups of running buddies, actually. One is the Red River Road Runners. They are an actual sanctioned club,

Great lessons in leadership

Published on January 17, 2013 in Leadership, Life

I got an email today that made me very excited. It was an invitation from John Maxwell to join him at this year’s Chick-fil-A Leadercast event. OK, so it wasn’t a personal invitation to sit backstage with him at the event. That really would be
